How Is Gastric Sleeve Surgery Performed?

Gastric sleeve surgery is performed by laparoscopic method. Laparoscopic surgery is a closed surgical technique. As in open surgeries, 10-15 cm incisions are not opened. Instead, a few 0.5 cm holes are made and the camera and treatment tools are sent to the abdomen through these holes. On the one hand, the surgeon monitors the operating area from the high-resolution monitor in front of him, and on the other hand, the treatment is performed. Thanks to this technique, the surgery is more comfortable and safe, and the post-operative process is more painless and faster. In the operation performed under general anesthesia, 80 percent of the stomach is removed with the help of staplers and in the light of the sent tube. The most important point of the surgery is to control the bleeding in the suture line after the stomach is removed. In order to determine whether there is any leakage in the suture line, the stomach is inflated with the help of special dyes. After the controls, the tube sent at the beginning of the surgery is removed and the drainage system is placed.

Adopting a low carbohydrate-high protein diet by guidance of a nutritionist; eating little and often; properly chewing food; getting multivitamin, calcium and vitamin D supports and adding physical exercises are very important. Since patients may feel full with less food, they have no problem to adopt a new life style in the post-operative period.

Is Gastric Sleeve Surgery Safe?

Is there any risk? Every surgery has a complication rate. However, surgeries performed with the laparoscopic method can be considered in the low-intermediate risk group. In gastric sleeve surgery; When we look at the data of the world series, the complication rate is around 1%, that is, it is quite low.

There are basically 2 risks that can be counted. Bleeding and leaks. However, if diagnosed in time, it is a treatable process. Although the rate is very low, other complications that can be counted are embolism, respiratory problems and organ injuries.

What They Are Saying

A month ago I had my operation with SavaClinic and in reality the treatment, care, procedures, all the people were very, very good. Since I started to communicate with the girl Sara, everything has been very good and she explained everything to me in detail, so she gained my trust from scratch. Then all the wonderful tests, Dr. Necdet, the hotel, also a surprise that they prepared me at the hotel, really everything to make me feel at home. Then the contact with the dietitian, always attentive, always ready to help. A very well organized team.
I recommend them to everyone with all my heart because I know that there are many clinics and that it is very difficult to find one that is reliable, that is why I share my story so that people who want to come.

Now a month later and much better than the first days, I feel that my new life is now beginning and for that I am very grateful to SavaClinic.

This Wednesday I had surgery with dr. Necdet Derici and everything has turned out as Mary had indicated from Spain. The entire hospital staff has exceeded all of our expectations. Sara, Laia and Raquel have behaved with us spectacularly. We start a new stage. Thanks especially to Mary. Without her it would not have been possible
